* IMHO I think that this bug was opened by a confusion generated by an oldĬonfig file and the default xscreensaver's behavior. * By default there are no greyed checked screen savers. > This is more a usability issue, that should IMHO > I can just go there and make sure there aren't any greyed etc/X11/app-default/XScreenSaver everytime there are installed/uninstalled, AddĪ "xscreensaver" USE flag to those packages. It could be a possibility but it adds complexity to otherĪpplications (like the mencioned above) because they should edit > Just to make sure I'm being understood, this is not a problem with no Its greyed), so you are getting the spected result. You are explicitly selecting a non-existent screensaver (and you know it because > couldn't be run (No such file or directory). It still happens: black screen with text saying that the screen saver > One thing I tested was to select "only one screen saver", and select a greyed

> I can check for it anyway, and will post the result here later. Xscreensaver install all screensavers software#
I worked for a company that did the same - they were #1 and got comfy/lax and were bought up by another bigger company that retired the majority of their software portfolio.About 50% of the time, when the screen blanks to activate a screen saver, all that comes are some error lines saying that a file (seems like a xscreensaver binary) couldn't be found.Īn example that can't be found is 'stonerview'. Did it TRY to partner with MS? Nothing I've read indicates that. MS wouldn't have run into as many issues if it hadn't made IE in such a way that it couldn't be uninstalled.īut I think Netscape played into it's own demise in hubris with 90% share of the market. But I don't recall these other companies crying foul when MS included software that did the same.

MS included other things that affected other companies - dial up networking, networking and a clunky e-mail program. He's upset that Netscape went under and blames MS for Netscape's demise (and he isn't wrong). I don't agree with it as Apple is just as bad if not worse than MS.
